IPS Managing Director Kristal Kinsela-Christie facilitated the Supply Nation First Step program at the Drake Building in Melbourne on October 31.
Kristal and I were blown away when we saw the office and the beautiful view. Exciting as it is to have been in a different work atmosphere, it was time to hustle! We facilitated with up to 30 people from many different regions and sectors of the business community.
It was a long day filled with intense training and information including:
Although it was a lot to wrap my head around as a newbie to the business world, I could tell how interested and captivated everyone was by it all. I was intrigued by how much information there was behind supplier diversity, and the number of Aboriginal businesses registered via Supply Nation ready to work alongside the rest of the business world.
Throughout our day we were provided with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, all of which were catered by an Aboriginal catering service, which just showed exactly what Kristal was talking about when she spoke on using Aboriginal businesses as resources.
John Burgess of “Little Rocket” and Shawn Andrews of “Indigicate” joined us in the afternoon session as the supplier panel, where they were asked a series of questions and then finished with an open Q&A. Once John and Shawn left, Kristal closed the afternoon with a summary of the key learning areas we had reviewed.
After two long days of events Kristal and I can easily say that we were well and truly ready for the weekend!
