Business opportunities are rapidly increasing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, thanks to the Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP). Businesses are already working with Indigenous suppliers in meeting their corporate responsibilities.
As part of its (IPP), the Australian Government has committed to awarding three per cent of new domestic contracts to Indigenous suppliers by 2019–20. Within the first two years of this policy's launch, contracts to the value of $594 million have been awarded to 956 Indigenous businesses.
If you would like to learn more about the IPP, IPS Managing Director Kristal Kinsela-Christie will be delivering Procurement Workshops for Indigenous Business Australia in Canberra on March 13, Adelaide on April 10, and Dubbo on May 22.
