IPS Research Manager Dr Katie is currently reviewing and updating WA land information authority Landgate’s Intellectual Property Framework, Strategy and Policy.
“Landgate have an incredible collection of satellite imagery, topography and geology, and innovative staff who are always creating new things that need to be protected,” Dr Katie said.
“Landgate are innovative and progressive in the management of their world class innovations – and part of what makes them so innovative is their proactive approach to managing their Intellectual Property.”
Dr Katie’s role is to assess the current level of awareness of Intellectual Property, and what policies are in place. She is researching government requirements and best practises in the field to determine an Intellectual Property framework for Landgate that will put them at the forefront of their field in protecting their innovations.
“People create new things all the time, but don’t always know how to protect them,” she said.
“At IPS we work closely with government departments and companies to support the protection of Intellectual Property around the valuable products and ideas that foster innovation in business.”
