Members of the South West Aboriginal Business Consortium (SWABC) met with Mellisa Teede, CEO of the South West Development Commission, this week. The consortium were keen to discuss opportunities to grow the Aboriginal economy and businesses within the South West.
The consortium was launched in September to drive awareness of and opportunities for Aboriginal Business, and to promote keeping work in the South West. It aims to advocate for opportunities and win work on the Bunbury Outer Ring Road (BORR) project, and other SW infrastructure projects.
Aboriginal businesses see the BORR as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build capabilities and a legacy of opportunities into the future.
The SWABC has a clear message: they need support in growing capability now, to provide opportunities for Aboriginal people in the future.
